Company History

Crumpler Plastic Pipe, Inc. (CPP) is a leading manufacturer of corrugated polyethylene plastic drainage pipe. The company was founded in 1975 as a subsidiary of Crumpler Brick and Tile Company, Inc., which had been established in 1945. For decades, Crumpler Brick and Tile was recognized as the South’s largest producer of clay drain tiles.

CPP was created to meet the rising demand for small-diameter HDPE corrugated pipes, which were rapidly replacing traditional clay tiles in septic systems, house foundations, landscaping, and agricultural drainage. Thanks to the lighter weight and durability of plastic pipes, CPP quickly expanded beyond its original Virginia–Carolinas market to serve the entire Eastern Seaboard.

As the company developed larger-diameter culvert pipes, growth accelerated through the engineering community’s adoption of chemically inert plastic culverts for stormwater and wastewater management. This strong acceptance fueled CPP’s expansion and ultimately enabled it to absorb its parent company in 1991.

Today, CPP operates the largest corrugated plastic pipe manufacturing facility under one roof on the Eastern Seaboard, continuing its legacy of innovation and leadership in drainage solutions.
